Anna Collins
Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin
As a counselor, my goal is to help clients learn to be with themselves, and to be with others, in a healthier, more fulfilling way. My approach is very engaging and experiential, drawing on mindfulness-based approaches like AEDP, IFS, IPNB, and Somatic Experiencing. I typically guide clients in slowing down and “being with” themselves more fully and without shame. I try to template this level of attentiveness through my own emotional engagement and respect for my clients and their experience. In this way, clients and I can collaborate in an atmosphere of openness and safety to address whatever is on their hearts or minds.
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” -Carl Gustav Jung
Before becoming a counselor, I majored in fine art with an emphasis in metalsmithing. I received my Masters in Counseling degree from St. Edward’s University. My husband, Toby, is also a counselor. Beyond this shared interest, we enjoy spending time together gaming, being in nature, and having fun with our kids. I also enjoy painting, and playing the guitar. I have been lucky enough to live in Austin since 2006, but my birth home and my heart is on a tiny island called Molokai in Hawaii. I spend time during the summer visiting family and friends there, but I am always happy to come back to my work, my friends, and my other home, Austin.
